About Our Winery
Early in the winter of 2000/2001 three cousins from Texas, found a piece of land in El Dorado County California that they thought would be perfect for the family vineyard and winery.
2002 saw the planting of 5.47 acres of grapes on the property. The varieties included: Cabernet Sauvignon .77 acre, Petite Sirah 1.51 acres, Petite Verdot .58 acre, and Zinfandel 2.51 acres. Our first harvest of 2 tons Estate Petite Sirah took place in 2006 and it doubled in 2007. We look forward to the vineyard to be in full production soon.
Wine production began at our facility in late 2003. The tasting room was opened May 15, 2004. People come just for the view, but adding fantastic wines, a charming tasting room and outstanding staff completes the picture.
Our winemaker Michel Prod’hon immigrated to America from France in 1980. In 1995 he married Terrie and their dream of a vineyard and home in the sierra foothills started to bud with the planting of Sangiovese, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Franc vines in 1998. Their dream was nurtured and wine making was the next phase. Michel’s foundations of winemaking skills were learned from the ground up. In 2002 Michel and Terrie became part of the Mount Aukum family. Michel’s winemaking is now in full bloom at the winery.
Please stop by to take in our breathtaking view, taste our award winning wine and meet Michel and Terrie.
Dreams do come true.
